Pumpkin Roll

Yesterday we made one of my favorite festive treats - Pumpkin Roll! It is also a very nostalgic food for me. My mom always made it during the holidays and I have fond memories of those times.
Yummmm!

Here is the recipe:

Beat 3 eggs on high speed of mixer for 5 minutes. Gradually beat in 1 cup of sugar. Stir in 2/3 cup pumpkin and 1 Tbsp lemon juice. Stir together 3/4 cup flour, 1 tsp baking powder, 2 tsp cinnamon, 1 tsp ginger, 1/2 tsp nutmeg, and 1/2 tsp salt. Fold into pumpkin, spread in greased, floured pan. Bake at 375 for 15 minutes. Turn out onto towel sprinkled with powdered sugar. Roll towel and cake together, cool. Filling: 1 cup powdered sugar, 6 oz. cream cheese, 4 Tbsp butter or margarine, 1/2 tsp vanilla. Beat smooth, spread over cool cake. Roll, wrap in tin foil and chill.

Photoshoot of Lena

I haven't done much photography since high school, so I am not that great. But Lena is so cute, how bad could I be?

New dress

You know how I wanted us to wear black and white for family pictures? and I wasn't so in love with the skirt? Well, here is a new dress I made her. I think I will just put a black ribbon around her and call it good. Isn't she a doll?!

I love the eyelet fabric, so sweet and feminine. It was some that my mother-in-law gave to me out of her stash. Thanks!

Projects

I love headbands. I just do. However, I severly dislike the plastic ones that pinch my head. So, I always go for ribbon, elastic, or fabric ones. Here is my latest.

I used fabric that was left over from this skirt I made for Lena. I wanted to make her a black and white skirt because I want all of us to wear black and white in our family pics. The skirt is cute, but once I put it on her I realized I am not in love with skirts on little babies, I prefer dresses. She just has such shorty legs. I don't know.

Pillow

New baby this month = not as many crafts.

However, my sister-in-law is having a birthday next month, so I decided to make her this.

Cute monogrammed throw pillow for her room.
I really hope she likes it (honestly, teen sister-in-laws are hard to get for)

Hooded Baby Towel

I don't know how people get a dripping wet, cold baby into those baby bath robes. I much prefer hooded towels because you can QUICKLY get the little dear dry and warm. So, I needed a couple for our little one. The picture isn't the greatest because I don't have the baby to model it yet. :)

It was really easy, I just cut a towel in half and a washcloth in half, hemmed it, added a little ribbon - voila!
