pendants

These are super easy and cute. The best part is you can make them to match anything you want. I have made some for me and some as gifts for others.

All you need are glass tiles, bails, scrapbooking paper, mod podge or something similar, and hot glue. I got the tiles and bails from http://www.candytiles2.etsy.com/. You just rinse off the tiles and dry them. Then cut out the desired paper the shape of the tile. Then modpodge the paper to the tile. Let it dry, then put a little dab of hot glue on the back for the bail. Easy as that.

Ladybugs

This is the latest thing I've made for a baby girl.


I really love it, but my favorite part is how we got the fabric. I don't know how many of you bring your husbands and sons to the fabric store, but I don't think its the most common thing. However, Aaron and Landon go with me fairly often. I really enjoy having them come. Aaron is really good about saying "yes, dear, that's great. yeah, I like that too." etc. Plus he can keep an eye on Landon. So, that is usually what he does.

Well, one time I took them to the fabric store and I'm looking at some fabric or whatever and Aaron wanders down the aisle a little ways, pulls out a bolt of fabric and goes "Hey, what about this one?" (and he's pretty excited about it). It made my heart sing. Even if the fabric had been totally ugly I would have bought some, but, no, my husband has very good taste in little girl fabric ;) and he knows me really well. The fabric was the most adorable green leaves with ladybugs print (seen in the photo above). I was so excited, but I tried not to act overly joyous about the fact that he picked it because that might cause him to never do it again.

I even had him pick between a couple patterns which dress I should make out of it. So, this is the dress Aaron picked for his little girl. So cute! He is going to make such a fantastic daddy to a little girl.

Dolly

This is a blanket that my mom was given when I was born. It is darling! It has four squares that hav pockets for a little doll to go in. One that is a cradle, tub, buggy and highchair. So cute! But I guess I was a little hard on the doll - very well loved. So my mom kept the blanket for me, but not the doll. So, I made a doll myself. I had no pattern or guide or anything. I made it up. And I think it turned out pretty cute.

The Jungle Room

I love having a house for so many reasons. One reason is that I can decorate it however I want. I have had so much fun doing Landon's room-to-be. Right now we just call it the jungle room. I have always thought coloring on the walls would be way fun. Actually I got a chance to do that a little when my parents let me redo my bedroom when I was sixteen, but now I have a whole house I can color on the walls in! Okay, I don't really color on the walls. But it has kind of felt like that as I have been painting the mural in Landon's new room. Now I just hope Landon doesn't get any ideas about adding to the picture, he did watch me do part of it.

For Landon:

This is one of my favorite projects. And it was super easy. I love to do things for Landon, but it seems like there is so much more out there for little girls. So, I was thrilled when I found this idea here for little boys! I love the way it turned out and can't wait for him to wear it.



For Lena:
I still love making things for little girls too. I made this dress out of the exact same fabric used for my bridesmaid skirts and groomsmen ties when we got married in August 2005. How fun is that?! My mother-in-law still had some that was left over, so when she found out I liked making dresses for my baby-to-be she gave it to me.

Too Much Fun

I am beginning to really hope that we are actually having a girl. I have been having too much fun making cute girlie things.

Here are the dresses I've done. I've already blogged about the first one I made (upper left). I got the pattern here. The second is similar, but I altered it a lot. The third one I made is a bandana dress (lower left). You can find tutorials online for how to make them. Basically it is just two rectangles of fabric sewn together with casing at the top for the ribbon. It is the easiest dress I have ever made. The fourth one I made I actually went and bought a pattern for. I love the little puff sleeves. So far I have just used fabric I already had, but I think I will have to break down and go fabric shopping soon.

So, these little hair clippies seem to be all the rage for moms of little girls. Now I know why. They are so easy and fun to make. I think I made plenty, but I am still itchin' to make more just because it is a blast. I also made this hair clip holder. I have seen a few different versions of this type of thing, most only have one or two ribbons hanging from it for the clips to go on, but I thought I needed three. haha You can use anything for the top - I've seen people use all kinds of wooden shapes, including the child's first initial, a flower, fruit, whatever. One tutorial on it that I like is found here. (I love all her tutorials) I had some boards that my dad and brother had cut up for me so I painted it with my little girl's name (the benefits of picking out your child's name in advance :))

Don't worry Landon isn't being totally left out. I made a tie rack for him that is also made from a piece of wood my dad and brother gave me. I just painted it with his name and put some hooks on the bottom of it.


This photo is terrible, but I also made a really simple little tie for him that matches one of the dresses I made for his sister. Won't they be so cute?!


This is the other thing I have been making. Again it is just a piece of wood my dad and brother cut for me and then I painted it and added some hooks. I know vinyl lettering is sorta the thing to do nowadays, but if I can paint it, why pay for the vinyl? Anyway, then I just cut some posterboard rectangles, covered them with scrapbooking paper, added our names and ribbon to hang them with. I think it turned out pretty cute. My husband even said some complimentary things about it without any prodding on my part.
